Mach's Molded Grating Manufacturing Process:
Liquid resin and continuous fiberglass rovings are systematically laid in a mold, layer after layer manually, to produce the desired tuickness and panel dimensions. The finished molds are set aside for a predetermined time to allow the panel to cure. The panel is then ejected from the mold. The molds are cleaned and prepared for the process to begin again.
The one piece interwoven mesh construction of molded grating produces a product with optimal corrosion resistance and bi-directional strength. Since the grating is "cast" in one piece, there is no mechanical joint between bearing bars, unlike pultruded grating where the glued joints can give way in heavy continuous traffic or after prologged service.
The high percentage of resin (65%) in molded grating offers superior corrosion resistance and optimal impact resistance. Molded gratings with a square mesh pattern offer increased load capacity and panel utilization due to its bi-directional trait.
Numerous cut-outs for piping, valve access, and column penetrations can be made without the need for additionalstructural framing. Being of one-piece construction, the grating performs as a plate, distributing loads throughout the grating section and around cut-outs. Cutting access holes in the molded grating does noe weaken the panel and does not generally require additional or costly supports(unlike pultruded grating that will require additional supports at cutouts).

Machs molded fiberglass grating has been apporved by ABS(American Bureau of Shipping, Type approval), molded gratings with four resin systems(General purpose, Isophathalic, Vinyl ester and Phenolic) are independenly tested by outside agencies in USA as per(ASTM E-84), also our molded grating is stronger than ever with the introduction of the world's only high strength molded grating according to the test by our partner is USA at a famous university.

Quality assurance:
A. All items to be provided under this Section shall be furnished only by manufacturers having a minimum of ten (10) years experience in the design and manufacture of similar products and systems. Additionally, if requested, a record of at least five (5) previous, separate, similar successful installations in the last five (5) years shall be provided.
B. Manufacturer shall offer a 3 year limited warranty on all FRP products against defects in materials and workmanship.
C. Manufacturer shall be certified to the ISO 9001-2000 standard.
D. Manufacturer shall provide proof of certification from at least two other quality assurance programs for its facilities or products (UL, DNV, ABS, USCG, AARR).
E. Manufacturer shall provide proof, via independent testing less than six months old, that materials proposed as a solution do not contain heavy metals in amounts greater than that allowed by current EPA requirements.

Modulus and cutting loss calculation of Molded grating
Molded grating has its standard panel size and the mesh size is also fixed, therefore, when doing cuttings, it's impossible to keep the integrity of the mesh if there is no exact calculation, or there will be much wastage after cuttings.
In order to reduce the cutting wastage and to keep the beautiful appearance, sometimes we have to calculate the grating modulus for the integral lattices.

Pave a trench which width is 700mm with the grating, and the grating should be integral lattices, without cutting fingers.

Mechanical calculation
Concentrated full panel load (point load), line load and uniform load

Concentrated full panel load(point load) trial is mainly design for manned capacity. The trial area is like a man's footprint(75mmX300mm). The standard installation data is mainly comes from man's comfortable walking and security. The max. Deflection should be less than 12mm or less than 1% of the span.

Concentrated line load trial is to use an equilateral triangle block and one of its angle will be pressed on the grating to test the deformation under the stress condition. It's mainly for the directional load, such as the tires or the pultruded gratings whose supporting material is in different directions..

The uniform load trial provides the basic mechanical data for the platform design. Generally, the uniform load of the manned platform is not less than 200kg/sqm; The uniform load of the equipment maintenance platform is not less than 500kg/sqm.

Destructive static test value(concentrated full panel load) is generally more than 6 times when the value of the deflection is 1%. The max. Load should be less than 1/3 of the destructive static test value.

Nantong Machs do the above test with S60001 pressure instrument which is imported from STS in America. The load test data are all in the condition of the parallel bilateral support of the grating. The mechanical property data will be better than the listed data if it's the multilateral support.

he ultimate load is a kind of max. Load when the gratings lose efficacy in the condition of a certain supporting span, because the resin type and the different fiberglass content have a great influence on the ultimate load of the gratings. The listed data is the result of Machs' standard product. The ultimate load cannot be the design parameter. The limitation of gratings application is in the range of the max. Load of the table.
